During this time of year, we often reflect on what we have done for the whole year. Many of us had success, while others may feel that they did not accomplish all they set out to do. Some may have encountered losses. It is also a time when we need to take a step back, and look at what we really have. I recall many years ago a friend of mine told me the story of how one morning she got to work and when she poured some coffee in her mug, it was cold. The coffee was cold and there was not any cream or sugar either. She expressed to me that she got so angry. After a few minutes of frustration, something came over her. She realized that there are people in the world that would give anything to have a cold cup of coffee. Suddenly the inconvenience was no longer an issue. She heated her coffee up in the microwave and was grateful to have that.
My 21 year old son and I had a conversation just this morning about cocaine. I explained that coke was something that never interested me. I explained of how someone once described it to me. The first high you get from coke is a beautiful experience. So of course, you do it again. The second time around, the high is not the same. As a result you will keep doing it, chasing after that first high you had, never being able to catch it again. Next thing you know you are smoking crack, while the chase of the first high continues. We live in a world of instant gratification and I can see how that first coke high can compare to life in general. You see, we never seem to have enough and we keep chasing for more. We get more and it is still not enough. We are all guilty of saying stuff like, "When I lose weight, I am going to buy a certain outfit, etc." |
My family has often referred to my step-mother as "Tammy Faye Baker", because of how poor she cries. In 2004, my father came into a cash settlement for over a million dollars. He and my step-mother paid their house off and all the other bills. They purchased new cars and had some other repairs done to their home. My step-mother plays the lottery all the time. One day, after the settlement, she mentioned to her daughter that when she wins the lottery she was going to do something. I can't recall what it was she was going to do. In any case, her daughter called her out and said, "Wait a minute, haven't you already won the lottery?" Seriously, even after coming into all that money, it still was not enough.
The question is, "When are we ever going to be satisfied with what we have?" I personally believe that we live in a world full of people that are angry and scared. Angry because we keep chasing after more and can't seem to get that instant gratification, scared because we are afraid of not having enough. My friend, James Himm Mitchell, expresses that when we have an attitude of gratitude, we become content with what we already have. It is when we are peaceful & content with what is already in front of us, the chasing ends. The "attitude of gratitude" brings us to a new healthy level of thinking. This season, let's relax and look around at what we have with appreciation. Happy Thanksgiving! Gypsy Spirit |
We are wrapping up this November full moon phase. There have been activity this past week with a outburst of a meteor shower a few nights ago. So if you have been experiencing some unusual things this week, that might have something to do with it. The energy of the full moon can make us sad at times, sometimes just feel like crying out of the blue. That is because you are being called to let go of that old energy, which is an energy that causes us to be depressed. I also must note, crying is very healing too. I would recommend that over these next few days, we allow ourselves to cry if we must and allow the release of the energy that has been blocking us from reaching our manifestations.
